Recognition of capability in research and development

ANI R&D Recognition Application

We support companies and other entities in preparing an application for R&D capability recognition awarded by Portugal's National Innovation Agency, organising evidence, activities, teams and areas of expertise.

Discuss a transaction
A strong application demonstrates genuine R&D activity, technical capability, adequate resources and consistency between the entity's experience and the fields for which recognition is sought.

ANI R&D recognition requires technical and organisational evidence, not only an institutional description.

The recognition identifies an entity's competence to carry out research and development activities in specific fields and areas. The assessment considers R&D work already performed, the team, prior experience and available resources, among other matters.

Fenix Capital Partners supports the initial eligibility assessment, narrative development and organisation of financial and documentary information, working with the entity's technical team and applying the requirements in force when the application is made.

What is ANI R&D recognition?

It is the recognition of an entity's capability to conduct research and development activities in approved fields and areas, awarded by Portugal's National Innovation Agency. Selo ID is the visual mark associated with that recognition.

Which entities can apply?

Eligibility depends on the legal and regulatory criteria in force, including residence or a permanent establishment in Portugal and evidence of R&D activity and investment. Science- or technology-based spin-offs and startups may have specific evidence requirements. The individual case should be checked before applying.

What information is normally required?

The application includes identification of the entity and requested areas, a detailed description of R&D activities, financial documents, information about the team and its employment links, and other evidence required by ANI. Statements from scientific and technological system entities may be required, with exemptions applying in certain cases.

Recognition is decided exclusively by ANI and depends on the legal and regulatory requirements in force. Analysis and support from Fenix Capital Partners do not guarantee that recognition will be awarded.
